Background

The second book in the series, Vorn the Onyx, continues Evan's story. He is on his way home to Wrightwood with his friends.

Synopsis

As they approach the town of Martingis, they hear a scream. Rushing to see what the trouble is they find a local witch is attempting to abduct a young girl. Evan intervenes and the witch flees.

Upon questioning the girl, Amanda, Evan learns that she is an orphan and that the witch has been abducting orphans for a month. Four girls are already missing.

They continue into town taking Amanda with them. After they settle in, Evan talks to the town manager, who tells Evan that the witch has been terrorizing the town for months. He charges Evan to to rescue the orphans and break the witch’s hold on the town. Evan investigates further, questioning the townsfolk and disrupting local customs. His interference angers the witch and leds to the murder of an orphan boy and Amanda's abduction.

Can Evan and his companions find the missing girls and free the town from the clutches of the witch before she can complete her evil scheme?
